Negatives of cancelling credit cards I open just for one-time signup bonuses?
Last week you guys gave me some great credit card suggestions. There are a couple with really great signup bonuses but that I don't see as being good long-term cards for me (high fees, benefits I won't be using much at this time.) I've always heard it's bad to cancel credit cards, but from what I can tell is the only potential negative is that it lowers your loan to available credit ratio. I'm already fine with where that is right now without new credit cards (I pay off my balance every month) so is there really any harm in signing up for a card, getting the bonus, and canceling before I get charged a fee the next year?
