Schools voted for TCU likely because they liked the idea of another game in Texas for recruiting. This was very short-sighted as it was really a ploy by Texas to own another vote. Now, as the rest of the conference wants to expand, Texas alone can block it. If they had invited, say BYU, instead of TCU they'd have the required 8 votes instead of 7.
So going forward Texas can block any expansion utilizing their lapdogs. If the conference were to go to 12, they would need 1 additional lapdog to maintain their voting bloc which could mean Houston.
Back to TCU. When TCU was invited, the conference definitely needed to invite someone. Texas couldn't have blocked that. The rest of those dummies should have seen further than their nose and blocked any new school in Texas.
