I don't spend much time dwelling on what could've been but it is sad to think what almost was with the MWC despite the cruddy leadership and the jealousy of the have not teams in the conference. For both Football and Basketball we were on the verge of becoming a great conference.

In football we had several teams making regular appearances in either the top 25 rankings or in a major bowl game (BYU, Utah and TCU) and in basketball we had multiple teams getting NCAA tourney berths and appearing in the top 25 including multiple teams ranked in the top 10 at the same time(BYU, UNLV, New Mexico and San Diego St). The MWC was pushing the Pac12 for basketball supremacy in the west (Pac12 was still deeper from top to bottom but the MWC was narrowing the gap, even in football).
