Guess we can't do that for sure yet, but the tone of this Orlando Sentinel headline and the words/tone of their AD sure don't make it sound like getting that Big12 invite is anything for them to hope for?

Headline: "UCF, Aresco focus on American growth rather than Big 12 expansion."

Well of course the Conference Commissioner is going to focus on the AAC ... but the headline was interesting. The UCF ADs comments seem to not be stoking any hopes of Big12 inclusion too:

"UCF officials have said little publicly about their efforts to move to the Big 12, instead shifting the focus to supporting new coaches — including new football coach Scott Frost — and boosting fundraising.

"I think there's a lot of politics at play in what they're doing. I'm not sure that anyone knows what they're gonna do, but we've really kind of stayed focused," new UCF athletics director Danny White said. "We have so much work to do here at UCF that I don't really have time to think about stuff that we can't control. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. If we're in the American or the Big 12, I got to have the right coaches, they've got to be recruiting the right student-athletes and [we've] gotta make sure that whole engine is going."

"Competition is one thing. It really doesn't matter what league you're in because we want to be nationally competitive and you can do that from either conference."

Hmmm... those words sound like words of defeat, eh? Sounds like we can cross UCF off the list.

I just hope this doesn't end up playing out like Agatha Christie's "And then There were None"
