To get superconferences you would need a dispassionate board that could assign conferences and everyone would have to be equal. That just will not happen with Texas. They love being the big fish. They love calling the shots and they will not take a backseat to someone from Berkeley.

If Texas is going to be part of the conference that is spread out, they are going to be in charge of it. A big fish in a big pond with a lot of other big fishes loses its brand somewhat
