BYU does limit academic freedom. We as BYU fans just disagree with those people who say that's a problem. According to our stance BYU is funded by the church and so it's reasonable if the church doesn't want academics and students at BYU officially badmouthing the church, whereas the P12 "open minded" types think it's only acceptable to let everyone say whatever they want, nothing less.
