Beyerball Walk-on
Iowa State fan here and expansion

Hello Cougar brothers..Just thought I'd stop by and check things out. I really hope the Big12 adds BYU and I know I"m not alone as Cyclone fans..Have a lot of respect for your program both Fball and BBall..I remember the ISUvBYU game in BBall a few years ago and that was one heck of a game. I'm entirely tired of most of the media constantly writing that the Big 12 is dead man walking conference. It gets old and is simply not true IMO. This conference has certainly not made good decision over the past decade but right now it's as stable and financially stable as it's ever been IMO. I find it hilarious that everyone writes how much $$ the BIG and SEC are making and how the BIg 12 is so far behind when the facts simply don't hold true. Every single team in the Big 12 made more money from TV revenue than every P5 school accept some in the SEC. Texas made nearly $48 million in TV revenue last year..$48 million folks. So those that think Texas is simply biding it's time until 2024 when the Grant of rights ends to then leave doesn't realize that by that time Texas will be making over $60 million a year from TV revenue and that will be more than any P5 team in America. Texas and OU are the clear power brokers in the conference and why they would want to leave to be another me too team with 15 other teams in a conference and leave their rivalries is crazy..not to mention open Texas recruiting up even more to a brand new conference..No way thats' happening. It makes me mad when all these so called experts claim that by adding no P5 teams that it waters down the big 12..ridiculous. Rutgers didn't water down the BIG? Maryland? Heck I'd argue that teams like BYU, Houston, Cinnci even UCONN bring greater value to the Big 12 in every aspect than...well...Wake Forest..Vandy..Indianna..WASU...NC State..Maryland..Virginai etc.. Yes Virginia..I could go on. Nobody watches those teams in fball and most of those teams attendance isn't that great. They are simply a name that's it. Uconn for example had a TV rating of 1.3 million viewers on average last year..which I found surprising... BYU is even higher. So I've never understood the argument that some of the schools the Big 12 is looking at don't bring anything.. Clearly part of the expansion is a money grab for sure given how the Big 12 contract is structured but what conference wouldn't take advantage. Here's my guess: 1- BYU- No brainier. If BYU isn't invited then something is seriously wrong IMO. 2- Cinncinati- Partner with WV which is needed and opens the Ohio recruiting market even more which is great for my team given our new HC . Cinncinati downside certainly is it has a commuter school perception but it's a large school and Cinnci has been a pretty decent fball program the last decade and really good bball.. Good TV market. 3- Houston- I realize this seems crazy for Texas to want Houston but the Big 12 doesn't have the Houston market anymore. 8 of the top 10 fball games last year on TV were SEC games..yes SEC games..SEC owns HOuston right now. Houston IMO in a P5 will become a football power in a short period of time. THeyve made huge investments in facilities and have a great HC. 4- Colorado State.- I know many might disagree with this pick and it's not a sexy pick but it's a partner for BYU..opens the Colorado market some..Is a land grant school which the ISU and Kstate schools like..they built new stadium etc.. This one is a tough call but I could see it be CSU..My other guess would be UConn. Doesn't make sense geographically but neither does BYU. Uconn is a money grab completely and is viewed as one of those schools that will grow with the conference. Sorry this was so long but I really hope BYU is in the conference.
