for Mormons in the NE would be huge.

Mormons in the NE might be a crazy bunch (I have the right to admit that!), but that definitely is a big plus considering how sparse their numbers are. You'd be surprised how many of these folk here would drive several hundred miles to get to a BYU game every other year (even if they can't afford it).

A game at UConn would draw members--& their what-da? minivans--all the way from Quebec to Michigan to Virginia (& I'm not even talkin the real crazies).

As for UConn FB--if they come to rep the bottom of the B12 there's no shame in that at all. They really aren't that bad--& they got a few skill players every year we'd sell the farm for. And as others have said, they have HIGH potential to improve dramatically under a B12 banner. Financially speaking, they have resources & donors that would ultimately eclipse BYU (in dollar signs, mind you--not product, likely). And the exposure they'd bring would be invaluable. If the conference can chill over the exorbitance of having 5 Texas teams, it can at least splurge on one team in the northeast.

Picking up UCONN would in fact be one of their smarter moves. Possibly as good as going with that obvious, self-sufficient FB brand out in the Rockies there.
