Too many variables. Does anyone have power of attorney? Is there any question
of his mental capacity? Are there potential heirs or extended family who would contest?

I'm with the Utah grads on this one. Going through watching an elderly person's primary caregiver being accused of elderly abuse, fired, and facing legal troubles because of some promises he gave her and she probably should not have accepted, I would have a very hard time accepting anything from an elderly friend to whom I am not related.
