It's not like our bishops are paid, they have other jobs and most of them work 50-60 hours a week for their real job, plus 20 or so hours a week doing church-related stuff.
When my dad was bishop in Chicago he got a call from two 19 year old college students who were driving from the Utah to Pittsburgh over the holidays, and there was a huge blizzard and they couldn't afford a place to stay and so of course they stayed at our house. This seems like a better use of the church to me; particularly when finances are an issue, (which I don't think they are for this person's wife since her business should be paying).
