I thought he was overly gimmicky in the beginning, but he evolved into an excellent D Coordinator.
I found frustration with some of his quirks and game management decisions and felt he artificially created a ceiling that was below where he could've taken the program.
I feel he's a very honorable man and respectable coach.
I certainly don't hate the man and wish him well in Virginia. I'm just not going to call his performance at BYU – – particularly last five years – – incredible when I think he was essentially pretty good.
Had he taken the Virginia job in 2010 or 2011, I would probably be saying we should name the field after him.
