It has been interesting to see/hear how little some of the folks out there know about BYU. Obviously I believe that at some point those making decisions will be provided relevant information. So hopefully it isn't completely overlooked.

But if the people making decisions are looking at commitment to sports, facilities each school has, etc., then maybe making an official announcement about a new sports facility that will theoretically help your teams compete "at the highest levels" is just the kind of thing you do to make sure the decision makers are aware of your commitment level. Maybe you're hoping to get their attention, without actually sending something directly to them and looking overly anxious to impress.
