and hearing about all the opportunities to hack and exploit vulnerabilities in computers - it makes one not want to use or put info on computers anymore.
Between TOR, Darknet, Sql injection, malware, session hijacking, social engineering, etc, etc, etc - there is a whole lot of scary stuff out there.
I'm a 30+ year IT professional - mostly server admin-type stuff. But to see a demo of a Sql Injection on many random servers found with a simple Google search and being able to log in as Admin - it blew me away. I would have thought that there would be better work being done to set up servers, but it showed me that there is a whole lot of incompetency going on all over the world. I've always been very conscientious to maintain and update our home computers and servers at work. Now I have an even more heightened sense of urgency to put in better and better protections.
Coming out of this class I will definitely review our home computers' protection and our password schemes. I'm coming to the conclusion that there is some information that I will not put on a computer anymore.
