The Big 12 would get to pocket all the money Memphis is supposedly going to bring. Of course, this is where I could also see the probationary membership being true; that the 13th and 14th teams only get a probationary invite, and would need a permanent invite within 5 or 10 years. This would allow the Big 12 to see if Memphis follows through on their promises, particularly the ones about improving academics, and to see how their football team performs in the Big 12.

Of course, I still recall Barry Tramel saying, a couple of weeks ago, a Big 12 school official told him that a conference with Memphis is a conference they don't want to be in.
