It's just prognostication at this point. But it's based partly on statistics
Last year, the secondary had 22 interceptions, which was twice as many interceptions as Utah's opponents. The secondary returns five excellent starters: Senior CB Reggie Porter (38 tackles, 11 break-ups); senior CB Dominique Hatfield (33 tackles, 4 INTs); senior nickel back Justin Thomas (48 tackles, 3 INTs); junior S Marcus Williams (66 tackles, 5 INTs); sophomore safety Chase Hansen (17 tackles, 1 forced fumble). The back-ups are pretty good, too, and have some playing experience.

I took that information from this article: http://www.sltrib.com/blogs/4174133-155/utah-football-position-preview-utes-return

The D-line. Just monstrous. And consider that one of our D-line transferred to USC so that he could get more playing time (granted USC is thin there this year). Here's an article about the Ute D-line: http://www.sltrib.com/blogs/uofusports/4159811-155/utah-football-fall-camp-preview-experienced

The linebackers present a question, but there is talent there to be exploited.

I expect a stout run defense, and plenty of turnovers. The turnover differential was huge for Utah last year, and made up for some of the statistical weakness of Utah's pass defense.
