I like it a lot... as a secondary. IMO the stretch Y primary logo is a nearly perfect logo. I do some logo design...
professionally in my side job as an artist and so I've done some actual research into what makes a great logo. It really boils down to three things:
1) Distinctive 2) Memorable 3) Instantly Recognizable
The Stretch Y is all three of those. It's also Simple, versatile, useable in any size, timeless
Sailor Coug does well here too, but falls somewhat shorter on some of these dimensions.
I love our logo.

I like the 'Y' logo a lot better. I also think there's a reason other schools don't use their sailor (freshman cap) logo
