We stayed at the Carousel Inn (on Harbor) which Disney bought, for $32M last year. They will tear it down later in the year to make room for a 6,800 car parking structure, in the back of that block.
The space occupied by the hotel will become a pedestrian walkway over Harbor. Inside will be the mag and bag operation that now is on the plaza between the two parks.
To the north of the parking structure, Disney will create a new transportation hub.
The entire project reportedly will cost $1B.
From the top of Big Thunder Mountain, the Star Wars Land can be seen. Ride often enough and you get a complete picture. A lot of dirt being moved from one place to the other but some structures are starting to rise.
Also rumored is that the parking lot to the east of Cars Land will be developed into Marvel Land.
Also found out that Disney owns two pieces of property, the size of Cars Land, two block south of that park. Over the last decade, Disney has been acquiring properties surrounding the park.
Walt Disney always regretted not buying more property was Disneyland was built. Disney Corp has been rectifying that oversight.
Since some of the schools were back in session, the crowds were sparser than I expected.
