Umm..there's a huge billboard outside of Rexburg that uses the BYU-P pejorative.
It's a thing. I mean, maybe that billboard was taken down for typographical errors, but as of 2015 or so, it was up there bold as brass. And BYU-Provo is how many of my Ammon, ID-living, BYU-I relatives refer to BYU.
