27th shows how we don't make a big enough deal out of 1984. I mean Georgia hasn't won an NC since 1980 and look where they are. Goes to show how our NC changed everything for us.
And no surprise Utah is so poorly perceived. I think they outright won their conference one single time in 40 years of football. And how being pac10-south-co-champs-before-tie-breaker doesn't do one single thing for them. It also shows how flash in the pan success doesn't equal legacy. TCU, Utah, Boise State, Oregon ... You need a 20yr run to start making a fixed reputational mark. (Oregon will likely get there.) Then you have to prevent a program dive, such as Colorado has experienced.
Very few programs can do all that.
