Amen. Cooper Discoverer ATP or AT3 (same tire) in load range D or greater is
the best all-around tire for the money.

Slighty noisy, but it is strong.

Then again, if you are driving a mall-crawler, get whatever P-rate garbage you want, just don't go on a county road because I've seen twigs destroy a sidewall.

I know...because my Discovery had Micheleans and my H3 had Hankooks and both got sidewall tears. That had nothing to do with tread design either, and everything to do with load range. Even LT tires (typicall LR C) aren't the best either.

8-10 ply for real off-road duty. I prefer 8 for added sidewall flex, but usually find 10 ply equivelant (load range E) to be cheaper.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs in LR D and E and awesome, but you pay for 'em.
