I don't think we will be upset by any team. Because there are really only 3 teams that we should beat.
And those teams are Massachusetts, Southern Utah and Utah State. All of them are at the end of the year and all will be awful teams that will be playing in Provo. We will win all three of those games handily.

None of the other nine games is against an opponent that no one would be surprised to see win.

The opener against Arizona is the first game for the entire coaching staff against a seasoned coaching staff that has had success against our defensive coaches. The Wildcats are also favored. No surprise should they win.

Then BYU plays on the road against Utah - a team that BYU hasn't beaten this decade and only has one win in the last seven tries. No surprise if Utah wins.

Then BYU plays at home against UCLA. A ranked team with some pre-season all-American players. No one would be surprised if the Bruins win.

Then the Cougars travel across the nation to play West Virginia. BYU has routinely struggled in the Eastern time zone. The Mountaineers have won 8 or more games the last two years. No one will be shocked to see West Virginia win.

BYU does host Toledo at home to finish September. But the Rockets won 10 games last year, nine games the year before that. They return two running backs who ran for 1,899 yards and 19 touchdowns between them on on 311 carries. That's more than 6 yards a carry and a TD every 16 rushes. While BYU will likely be favored, Toledo is a good team that has 8 road win the last two years combined. It wouldn't be a surprise to see a good team win on the road against a team that could be 0-4.

Michigan State on the road. Would a win by the Spartans surprise anyone?

Mississippi State home. Who would be surprised by an SEC team travelling and winning? Very few people.

Cincinnati on the road. Would anyone be shocked to see a team that led BYU by double digits on the road beat the Cougars at home the following year.

Boise State on the road. Who would be surprised to see the Broncos win on the Smurf Turf? That would be nobody.

So I disagree with your premise.
