...we had good depth at LB and DB but not so much at DL. Lingering injuries, some guys not developing as hoped, off-the-field issues etc have thinned the DL group even further. It was a nice option to have moving Harvey to DE and having a talent like Butch to backfill but it when you look at the rest of the 2nd string LB group they are really green. Austin Heder is the one guy with any significant playing experience the rest of the group is a bunch of converted safeties (Tapusoa, Jones, Unga and Fonua).

When you combine the lack of experienced depth in our front seven with some of the new faces in our secondary (McChesney, Warner, Davis, etc) we are going to have a very young defense on the field at various points during the season, especially as injuries begin to take toll.
