They knew we had a killer defense and was the strength and identity of the team to lean on to win games
They knew our offensive line was going to struggle against superior teams we were going to face
They knew Taysom as big as he is, could run, absorb the punishment that was going to come via the defenses we were going to face plus lack of a good line
They knew this would protect Tanner for future years as the team came more in line with Detmer's system
They knew that Taysom was rusty and was not as accurate as he could be, and the best way to win games was a slow ball control game, keeping the opponents offense off the field, and keeping our defense fresh and hungry
It's a perfect game plan for the level of talent we have, vs the level of talent we face, and gives us the best opportunity to win and safeguard our football future (Tanner)
This is NOT the type of offensive production you will see in the coming years when they have the type of players they need to run this system
