It's very simple - because of BYU's specific religious affiliation, any
semblance of potential poor sportsmanship is magnified 100 fold. These are young men in the heat of battle, and there are occasional moments of retaliation or even just aggressive play, that taken out of context, looks bad. It's the same reason BYU gets more personal foul calls than they deserve or should be assessed. Teams like Utah and Utah State, as well as other teams, are just not held to the same standard, as some portions of these behaviors seem to be more "expected" and even sniggered at, commended as good strategy, or defined as "just aggressive play." It's just not the same for BYU, and never will be.
