Last time BYU played up there...
...I read an article in which one of the BSU players was interviewed.

He was asked about the blue field specifically. He replied that the first few times he played there it was difficult. The different color was a distraction and it took some getting used to. This was a DB who was interviewed.

I would say that if you are standing there on the field, it is obvious looking around where the players are. However, as you speed things up and get people moving around at full football speed, the color probably is a distraction and effects your brain's ability to process information. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a little getting used to before you are able to go full speed without having to "think" about things.

Based on his interview, I would identify it as being an advantage to the team used to playing on it. But probably an advantage that is difficult to quantify.

I'm not sure if BYU is better off identifying it as a potential disadvantage to players and talking to them about how to compensate or just accept it, etc., or if they are better off to simply tell them it won't effect things so get over it. There are some psychological aspects to the game, and I could see not wanting to put much focus on this being a disadvantage so that they turn it into a bigger one than it is.

Either way - Lamb's response is probably the best. Even if they do talk to the players about it, why let it be the focus of a press interview?
