BYU is one injury away from a former walk-on getting major minutes in the
regular rotation. There is a huge drop off in talent between the 4 guards you just named and the next best guard. 3 ESPN top 100 recruits and a freshman conference player of the year to a guy who walked on last year and didn't play any meaningful minutes.

LJ Rose has a long injury history and frankly has never proven he can stay healthy. Even if he can play, he won't be in peak condition, which is essential for Coach Rose's up tempo offenses. Bryant is coming off his own injury that has severely limited what he can do in practice. Haws is fresh off his mission and will need a year to get back into prime basketball shape, including weight and strength. All it takes is one injury, a twisted ankle, an ACL tear...

If BYU's top 4 guards stay healthy, then depth becomes a moot point, but injuries are a part of sports. I would feel a lot better if this team still had Chatman and Toolson instead of needing to turn to former walk ons and freshman guards who weren't heavily recruited.
