Regardless of the negative impacts (at the least field position) or lack thereof
It is one of the worst playcalls, if not the worst playcall in BYU football history. The highs and lows usually make historical impression (54-10, etc.) so that call will be around for a very, very long time and I hope as a "worst case scenario" and not one that get's challenged for it's place in "BYU playcalling history".
