The cougars will likely finish 9-4 this year with a tough schedule and a brand new coaching staff. And they have looked as good or better than the other team in most of their games.
Kalani and both coordinators are exceptionally likable, fun and bold coaches. BYU adheres to character requirements that no other school has to live up to. That's unique. It's principled. The fact that BYU can play as well as they do given these limitations is impressive. To me, that's cool.
I don't think BYU is uncool. I don't even know if there's a problem or a concern for BYU. There's a faction of the base that is longing for national attention and validation. With so many programs and the focus on P5 conferences, that means a top 10-15 ranking and an undefeated or 1-loss season.
I believe that's a lot harder nowadays than people realize. So you have a large group that is constantly disappointed. But i think that's more of mismanagement of expectations -- not being uncool.
