If there were 3-4 more independents out there like BYU (with a secondary

conference for olympic sports), then I agree that independence would be much more sustainable. There would be a built-in set of late season games wherein the independents schedule each other and more clout to have some additional bowl spots to vie for.

But in general, it would have to be teams with resources like ND and Texas, probably not WVU.

Had ND not made the deal with the ACC, then I think that an annual game would have been more likely.
