Please accept my apology for posting something so positive and affirming about
one of our players. I just forgot the rules of CB (silly me), that seem to require mocking and belittling of anyone who has anything but strongly negative and critical things to say about players and coaches, and that the generally accepted discourse is that of snide comments. Although I do realize that making such snide comments anonymously, and getting attention from other anonymous posters for doing so, can be quite affirming to those with insecurities. Why do people have to do this, especially on CB? Many do it for the same reasons that the insecure 5th grader does it, to get twisted affirmation from the whole class for mocking the kid who dresses differently, or has some other disadvantage that makes him / her the target. Basically, it's just sad, especially coming from predominantly LDS people, who should aspire to better. It's these type of arrogant behaviors that can and have tainted people's perceptions of the LDS culture. While I'm not LDS, I did attend BYU during the mid-80's, and I'm still a huge fan - of the teams, and most of the fans.

All that being said, could some interpret my "prediction" as over the top? Sure - but that's just what bold predictions often are, mostly just for fun, like the football game day crew does every week, making BOLD predictions about what may happen on the field that day. (By the way, I also made a prediction that Jimmer would be an amazing player as a senior, even when he only got spotty minutes as a frosh, as you could just see flashes of his brilliance even then). But regardless, it's just a prediction folks - for fun, with a wink, and a shade of cautious optimism, but not something that anyone is expected to take to Vegas and bet their life savings on. So, perhaps some on CB might consider whether it is really that necessary to immediately heap mockery on anyone who has a different degree of optimism than they do. The over-the-top prediction does not necessarily require over-the-top mockery that some on CB seem to feel so obligated to provide.
