Per game total yardage metrics don't
mean much IMO.
Yards per drive or yards per play are important. What's also important is defensive PER. These are the PERs for the last 10 years:
2016: 132.2
2015: 112.0
2014: 121.5
2013: 113.2
2012: 112.5
2011: 112.6
2010: 116.9
2009: 118.6
2008: 128.0
2007: 110.3
There is simply no way around the fact that BYU's pass D was bad this year and took a significant downturn from years past. It has to get better. I think it will.
