Couple things on Joe Namath
Your stats on Namath, definitely point to an over-rated QB. I would just point out a couple things (and I am not a Joe Namath fan per se). He suffered some injuries early on that really hampered him his whole career. The reason he had the nick name "willie whiteshoes" was because of all the tape they had to put on his shoes when taping him up. Who knows how he could have been had those injuries never happened.

The other item, which I believe may be the one thing worth him being in the HOF, is what he did for football in general. He was drafted and paid big bucks ($400,000 for 4 years - the first player to break the $100,000 barrier) by the Jets (more specifically the AFL) as part of a plan to legitimize and save the AFL. His winning the super bowl that year accomplished those tasks. It was that victory that lead to the merger of the two leagues and put football on the path to where it is today. Nothing says it would not have happened eventually anyway; but, the history is it can be pointed to him and that super bowl. So, for what he did to the game overall, he deserves some props.

I think a couple of names I will throw out as overrated are 1 - Troy Aikman, he was a good QB on a great team. Simple fact, when he got hurt, the Cowboys still won, win Emmitt Smith or Michael Irvin went down, the Cowboys lost. I think Aikman was the benefactor of very nice surroundings. 2 - not to pick on the Cowboys, but I would put Tony Romo. I have never understood the fascination with him. He has just never impressed me as a great QB. I am sure hoping my Broncos don't pick him up like some speculate.
