There are several categories of applicants that get those types of privileges....
for instance my mother is a 30+ year employee at BYU and my sisters' that attended BYU both got 1/2 tuition because of it. Both had scholarships so they actually ended up making money but the tuition break was real. My daughter, so my mothers granddaughter, did not get that tuition break.
