Here are some clues that can help identify by name
only.

- Samoans spell the "ng" sound with just a "g". You can tell Setema Gali is Samoan and Haloti Ngata is Tongan.

- Samoans don't have the letter H in their alphabet. Accordingly, Haloti, Hala Paongo, etc. are Tongan, or by this rule, can also be Hawaiian.

- Also, very rarely will a Samoan have the letter "K" in their name. Thus, Kaufusi, Kemoeatu,... are Tongan. Ks and Hs are used heavily in Hawaiian names.
