one of the great characteristics of gold is that it wears similar
To enamel so you lose that when you cover it with porcelain. The tissue also reacts well to high noble gold. If you were going to go that way and you wanted the benefit of the seal then you would probably want a curcumfrencial collar. But honestly if it's a molar I'd go straight up gold. If it's a front tooth I'd probably go with a beautifully shade matched porcelain.
