Not true in my case.
I went from a full DirecTV subscriber with a DVR full of shows that I watched all the time to a cord cutter. But it was a progression over time. I first started suspending DirecTV during the offseason back when they would let you suspend service for 6 months out of the year. When they stopped allowing that, I canceled and signed up for cable for Aug - Jan and then canceled for the rest of the year. I did that for a few years. I quickly realized that the months that I didn't have cable, I didn't miss it at all.

Then Sling came along and now I sing up for that for just the football season and cancel. And football is literally the only thing I watch on it. There isn't anything else that interests me. It all seems like junk.

I do have Amazon Prime, but I think I'd have that even without the streaming, and I don't really watch much at all on it. I think my wife may watch some British shows or other old TV shows, but not all that often.

I also have an antenna that I watch local news occasionally. But I don't watch any network TV shows and I don't have a DVR, and I don't miss it a bit.
