1. Year 1 - Basically he was at Washington State his freshman season and then transferred after that season in December. That's one season down for eligibility purposes.
2. Year 2 - Then he sat out a full calendar year because of NCAA transfer rules. That's two seasons gone. It turns out that he transferred early enough to play in the bowl game that was at the end of the same season as the "sit out" transfer season. He was able to play in that game and it counted as the same season he sat out because it was more than one full calendar year from the time he transferred until the bowl game. Two years down, but the bowl game impacted nothing.
3. Year 3 - He played last year. 3 years down for eligibility purposes.
4. Year 4 - This next season will be his fourth year.
