As for him saying he'd only play QB, that doesn't make that a decision based solely on pride. He could have made that decision based on the concept that he didn't think he'd be successful or get a fair chance at playing another position.

I don't think he could have played aother position in the NFL. Sure, he was a bit of a freak athlete and I think he has good work ethic. But he played QB his whole life. A position that is VERY different than any other position. I think there's a reason you don't see a lot of position changes from college to the NFL. Sure, there's some but they are generally to positions that already have a lot of the same skill sets.

Playing TE would have been a HUGE change. Blocking, alone, would have kept him from being successful. Sure, he's big and strong, but to be an effective blocker in the NFL takes skills he's never even come closeto developing.

It's why I don't think Taysom would get a chance at S in the NFL, even if he had the measurables. It's simply chalk full of things he's never done on a football field (or, at least, not ince he was playing pop warner). To become NFL-level proficient at those things just is a HUGE task.
