a sub-16 year old more than minimum wage. It creates unrealistic expectations for them--it's just not their market rate. They aren't even old enough/experienced enough for minimum wage so that should be the ceiling. My daughters understand the economics of babysitting and they would much rather get paid a little less and get called on more than have a rate so high that young parents can't afford to ever go on dates and never use them. My daughters are also free for temple nights. They still make plenty of money for what they need.
Seriously, what some of y'all are paying babysitters is insane.
