I liked them both but didn't get the death star rehash
I thought the force awakens did a nice job of introducing new characters and integrating the old ones, though I thought the dialogue between Princess Leah and Han Solo was lacking. It tried to tritely summarize too much with too little.

Basically, I thought Carrie Fisher was unimpressive this time around. May she rest in peace.

On the other hand, I enjoyed seeing Han and Chewy together again. Except for the part where Han acts mesmerized by Chewy's crossbow that he's had with him for who knows how long.

It was nice that some of the storm troopers could actually hit the broadside of a barn when firing a weapon. The movie gets serious bonus points for that alone.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and thought it brought back a true Star Wars feel that was missing for the most part in the last three.

But the whole star killer base thing – – why? I just don't understand why they have to go there. The whole last part of the movie felt like something we had already seen. Every time they blow up a new death Star, it gets less and less believable. I get that X-Wing fighter's are wicked awesome and all that, but now you have them essentially blowing up an entire planet. Who is going to build a humongous mega weapon when they can always be taken out by one man fighters?

I still liked it though.

Rogue One, on the other hand, was fantastic. I need to see it again, but it may be my favorite the whole series.
