served off the court". I think coaches have mentioned it (could be wrong) and Jarom says the same thing in his analysis during games. I don't agree.
I'm not sure if that aspect is pin pointed because it makes the loss more consumable to the public, but to me, it was the clear what the issue was: They played scared and couldn't mentally break through that...
If it's true that we got served off the court, then I would expect us to be focusing on improving our passing. I haven't heard a peep about the team's improvement in this area, not from coaches or from BYU games analysis. And what's odd is Jarom will talk about how we got served off the court, and then in the same breath say how BYU has improved their serving. As though BYU serving better means they won't get served off the court..? Sure OSU may have gotten a lot of aces, but those serves weren't anything BYU hadn't seen all year. They were scared, and that affected all facets of their game, serve receive being one of them.
Anyways, aside from being an elite team that can serve, hit, block and pass well, BYU needs to figure out how to overcome a mental slump, come end of the season.
One thing is a team that's clearly better than you, beating you. LBSU on Saturday (even Friday) was a better team. We at least know that BYU is capable of beating LBSU, and if BYU's in that position come the finals, hopefully they can scrap it together and find a way to win...
