He came home early! He's playing next year when nobody thought he would be available. So yes, it's a story.
But it's not like he was doing prison time, or escaped jail, it's his decision to serve as long as he wants depending on his health and well being. If he feels like he couldn't serve, fine, come home. Others may feel like they can serve even if they can't walk. It's all a personal choice.
But when you are in the spotlight as a player in a program like BYU, you can expect to get talked about and that's part of the territory. Good or bad.
