Squally is proven. We don't really know how good Burt, Hall, Fonua or Tolutau are. Hall had one really good game last year, but it's hard to judge if he's actually very good because that came against a garbage team. (Remember how excited we all got about Nate Carter because he had two awesome games against Nevada and Savannah State back in 2014? Then he didn't do much at all in 2015.) Burt looked very so-so as a freshman, I remember he got a bunch of carries against Fresno State and had a hard time getting anything going. Tolutau is completely unproven, as is Fonua.
We have a lot of bodies, and it seems like there's potential, but I'm not gonna lie, it worries me that Fonua is already ahead of Burt and Tolutau on the depth chart. If a kid who played DB to this point can switch positions in spring camp and immediately beat out a dude who has been with the program for two years and another guy who's supposed to be the next Harvey Unga, I'm not sure that's a good sign...
