Not at all. Pershing stepped in it big time. Just consider this:
who is more valuable to the university - a run-of the mill administrator? Or someone who donates hundreds of millions of dollars? Easy choice.
Huntsman might not have an official role at the university but Pershing was an idiot not to run the idea past his biggest donor. To cap it all off, firing a director of an institute by email was bush league.
