Thrill All-American
Disagree. His public personality hurt him as much as anything. I've heard
over and over how players loved him (true) and how he was different with his players than he is with the public (mostly true). But, even though he did all those things (surfing, Harley, etc.), his public personality was extremely bland. With a microphone in his face, where 99% of the fans see him, he was basically a cliche machine.

Again, very good coach who got the most from his players. Most of the guys who played for him love him and would run through a brick wall for him, but there is more to coaching than X's and O's. I always thought UVA was an odd fit for him because of the old-money, southern boosters that want a coach they can have a drink or two with and schmooze with at functions. He's not that dude.....nor is he the PJ Fleck crazy type of the Ed Orgeron good ol' boy type.
