I actually really like the idea that the ad could be seen as a shot across the bow to how the left is fighting for their ideals. My one counter is that none of the compassionate and personable lefties in the ad were shown as activists or as one of those individuals passionately and/or violently fighting for their beliefs. All they showed was really strong statements from the righties that would offend.

hopefully you're right and it was intended to be a rebuff of both sides.
