Why would we hire Whit several years before LaVell retired?
And it wasn't obvious KW was a good head coach. Hill passed him over when McBride left. Might have passed him over again if basically all of Urban's staff hadn't already left and BYU wasn't offering Whittingham. I highly doubt Whittingham picked Utah because of money.
