Here's What I'd Like to See on September 9th in LES
I was looking over some past BYU wins over Utah, and one game really stood out to me. It was the 1996 game where BYU outscored the Utes 37-17. But more impressive than either the win or the score was how the Cougars did it. Despite their reputation as a pass-happy team, that day they ran the ball down the Utes throats.

BYU ran for 366 yards compared to the Utes 82 yards. Brian McKenzie carried the ball 23 times fro 180 yards, and Ronnie Jenkins ran it 29 times for 161 yards. Sarkisian was the QB. He was 7/12 with 0 TDs, 1 Int, and 70 yards. Sark actually ran 7 times for positive yardage.

Utah had more passing yardage than BYU. Each team had 1 turnover, BYU the Int mentioned, and Utah lost a fumble.

Time of possession was huge in BYU's favor, 37:54 to 22:06.

Admittedly, the 1996 was one of BYU's best teams ever, some say it was even a better team than the 1984 national championship squad. Regardless, on this day, BYU came out with a game plan that was out of character for them, ran the ball, and just demolished the Utes. They controlled the line of scrimmage, the clock, and the game. The outcome was never really in doubt.

I'd really love to see something like this on September 9th.
