It's kind of a running joke that whenever we are staying with my family for the holidays, we end up going to the grocery store every single day (and often multiple times per day) because my dad wants to be a good host and make us really nice meals with all the trimmings, but he can't plan to save his neck. It's a strange mix of endearing and aggravating.
