before the full report for sophomores came out, that when a kid committed to BYU, he would generally receive less attention from scouts / rivals and therefore not get a bump up in stars even if he's deserving.
I'm not sure I believe that, but I do remember hearing about it.
I think if a kid is truly a 3-4 star recruit, he'll start seeing offers elsewhere regardless of commitment or not. Now, I'm not sure if some don't get publicized because the kid reads the letter/phone call and doesn't go spreading the news.
Makes me wonder how actually rivals/scout find out who has offers from where etcetc.
